World Heritage Wonders Safari

Your safari commences in Harare in Zimbabwe as there are connecting flights through Johannesburg that permit you to complete all your travel in one day. Upon arrival I will be there to meet you and assist with formalities and then escort you to our lodge for the night. The next day you will have time to do a little exploring around Harare as it is a quite a verdant tree lined city, although well past its prime. Even so, there are numerous interesting locations to visit and this permits you time to get accustomed to your new surrounds before embarking on our adventure.

Our first World Heritage site to be visited is near the town of Masvingo and after a pleasant drive through the once rich farm lands of Zimbabwe we will arrive at The Lost City of Great Zimbabwe. This architectural marvel is the largest stone structure south of the Great Pyramids of Egypt and is quite an enigma. After two nights at the quaint and immaculate Norma Jeane’s Lakeside Resort we will travel further south into a wilderness area little known by those outside of Zimbabwe, Gonarezhou National Park. This huge park is one of Africa’s best kept secrets and is stunning not only for the diversity of wildlife found within it’s boundaries but also for the spectacular scenery. We will spend three nights perched high above the Sabi River at Chilo Lodge. Be prepared to be pampered and spoilt as Chilo truly provides experiences that will never be forgotten.

It will be hard to leave this fantastic park and beautiful lodge but we will now travel across to the west of Zimbabwe and the next World Heritage location, The Matobo Hills. During our time here we will marvel at the spectacular landscape, encounter ancient Bushman cave paintings and even visit the spectacular location where Cecil John Rhodes is buried. In conjunction with all of this one of the highlights will be a half day specialised safari in search of the now very rare rhino. This is a once in a lifetime experience as your guide will actually get you out of your vehicle to track these ancient monsters on foot!

Our wildlife encounters continue when we travel north to the vastness of Hwange National Park. This park is one of the last great wilderness areas left in Africa and at 14,500 klm in size it is the home to a vast array of wildlife. We will be staying at the incredible Bomani Tented Safari Camp for three nights. What makes this experience all the more exciting is the fact that we will be transferred deep into the bush by “The Elephant Express”. This special ‘miniature’ train allows us to experience the bush and its wildlife in a completely unique way, as we travel for two hours in comfort and style.

At our next destination we will swap wildlife for ‘wild times’ as we hit the adventure capital of Africa, Victoria Falls. After a visit to these magnificent World Heritage listed falls you will be able to spend your time doing as much or as little as you like. The town of Victoria Falls has a vast array of activities to participate in and these range from the world’s best white water rafting through to elephant back safaris and walking with lions. Add to this the best native crafts and curios to be found in Southern Africa and you will have trouble finding time to do everything.
At the end of our time here you will fly out of Victoria Falls Airport for connecting flights home.

DON’T FORGET – ALL OF THIS SAFARI OR SECTIONS OF IT MAY BE ADDED TO “THE WATER WILDERNESS CLASSIC SAFARI”. ASK ME ABOUT WHAT I CAN DO FOR YOU TO CREATE A SPECIAL PACKAGE.
